Obituary

Goldie Lucille "Sis" Fisher; 87
Goldie Lucille (Mulligan) Fisher of Rockville, Maryland, passed away Monday, January 7th, 2013 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Born May 3, 1925 in Germantown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harry Edward Mulligan and the late Nora Lee (Earp) Mulligan. She and her husband, Frank Fisher, were married in Rockville, Maryland. Frank passed away in 1991.
Goldie was a 1942 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. She was a homemaker. For the last ten (plus) years, Goldie volunteered weekly (usually two days a week) in the thrift shop at the Senior Citizens' Center of Rockville, Maryland; she also did volunteer work at the Twinbrook Public Library.
Goldie, who was fondly known as Sis, was a warm-hearted, kind, and loving woman who always held her family in her heart. She kept in touch with all of them through visits, phone calls, and cards on a regular basis and was also a dedicated visitor to those who were in the hospital and in nursing homes. Goldie loved plants, trees, flowers, and flowering bushes. Her yard was known for the amazingly large and colorful azaleas that she grew and cared for. She also loved all wildlife and was a regular visitor at the National Zoo in Washington, DC, and at Great Seneca and Blackhills Parks where she took photos and fed the animals.
Goldie is survived by her brother, Bill Mulligan, and his wife Ruth of Hagerstown; brother-in-law, Ben Fisher of Rockville; stepdaughter Frankie Turner (Mark), and grandchildren Peggy, Angie, Sherry, Joey, and Carly; nieces Trish Koontz (Eddie), Mandy Savage (Denny), Nora Boden (Bobby), Sandy Sirk (Leonard), Charlotte Whitt (Keith), Terry Mulligan (Steve), Kristy Welch (Jim), and Paulette Best; nephews, Bill Mulligan (Karin), Rodney Mulligan (Kim), J.P. Thomas, and Ben Fisher (Lisa); great nieces and nephews Meghan Williams (Mike), Alston, Jillian, Buster Richards (Courtney), Willow, Marlee Whiteley (Matt), Mylee, Katherine Vann (Trapper), Elizabeth Mulligan, Bobby Lee Boden, John Thomas, Michael Thomas, Katie Thomas, James Welch, Melody, Natara (Jayden and Briella), and Jason and Megan Fisher…..just to name a few.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Rachel Lowe, Vivian "Bib" Thomas, and Myrtle Minick; three brothers, Charlie "Bub", Tommy, and Son Mulligan; nieces Billie June McEwen; nephews Ricky Thomas, Jimmy Subacius, Chucky Mulligan; and great nephew Shawn Thomas.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, #100, Rockville, MD 20850 or to Rockville Seniors, Inc., 1150 Carnation Dr., Rockville, MD 20850.
