Hindu Service Process

At the Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, we are honored to handle Hindu services on a weekly basis. We understand how quickly most families wish to have services scheduled, but we cannot, and will not, discuss availability for a service until three important steps have taken place.

Three Important Steps

  1. Arrangements are made. This includes selecting the cremation casket, urn, flowers, determining the number of death certificates, signing necessary authorizations, and rendering payment for services.
  2. The deceased is brought into our care if this has not already taken place.
  3. The death certificate is signed. If the death occurred in Washington, DC or Virginia, we must also obtain Medical Examiner cremation approval.

Once these three steps are completed, we can then discuss and schedule the date of the service.

Please note that we must hear directly from the legal next-of-kin to engage our services, not friends of the family.

Traditionally, we hold a visitation from 9 AM to 10 AM, followed by the service beginning at 10 AM. We then proceed to our on-site crematory at 11 AM. All cremation services must arrive at the crematory by 11 AM.
