Dr. David Clarke Parmelee
Passed away on February 27, 2013, at home with family in North Bethesda, MD. Beloved and appreciated husband of 43 years to Patricia Behrens Parmelee; burstingly proud father of Alissa and Heather and father-in-law of Joshua Klotz. David is the son of George (deceased) and Margaret Parmelee (E. Lansing, MI). He is also survived by sisters Gail Orlove (husband Spencer Orlove), Kathleen Timmis (husband Dr. Roger Timmis), and Laurel Hershiser; and nephews Dr. Firooz Pak and David Timmis. Born in E. Lansing, MI, after receiving his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University David was commissioned as a US Naval Aviation Officer. David earned his PhD in Physiological Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He held positions in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Washington, The German Cancer Research Center, the National Institutes of Health, Human Genome Sciences, Celera Genomics and, most recently, United States Pharmacopoeia. David was a knowledgeable outdoorsman and an avid Harley-Davidson motorcyclist.
